Ron McKenzieChief Information Officer
Mr. McKenzie is a native New Yorker whose heart is now in Florida. Mr. McKenzie has earned the prestigious Public Certified Chief Information Officer (CCIO) certification from the Florida Institute of Government at Florida State University. He also holds a Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, College at New Paltz. He has over 25 years' experience in Information Technology (IT). Prior to joining the City of Miami Gardens Management team in March 2008, he was a consultant for one of the major 5 consulting firms. During his 25 years in IT, he has worked his way up from a technician for a fortune 100 company, to becoming a Program Manager and Technical Project Manager of large scale projects for state and federal agencies. Having worked in various agencies in the private sector, including consulting, he brings a unique set of skills to the city's IT Department. He also has 8 years of exemplary service in the United States Army Signal Corp.
Mr. McKenzie is a member of the Florida Local Government Information Systems Association, the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials and The Black Data Processing Associates. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
About Us
The IT department encompasses the installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the city’s computerized network including: hardware, software, applications as well as security and telecommunication equipment support. We provide excellent technical support for the city and police department staff in an effective and efficient manner.
Our team has a diversified level of experience, educational knowledge, and technical skills that make us very confident while applying our problem solving solutions. Furthermore, our customer service skills have enhanced the level of customer satisfaction among the city staff, police department staff, and subsequently the citizens and businesses of Miami Gardens.
The mission of this department is to implement innovative processes, techniques, tactics, policies, and procedures that produce increased synergy among departments and increase the reliability of our systems.
