Councilwoman Lisa C. Davis, Seat 2
Councilwoman Lisa C. Davis has been a longtime resident of the beautiful City of Miami Gardens for more than 40 years. She was elected to Seat 2 in August 2010, and appointed by the Council in 2012 to serve as Vice Mayor for a term of two years. Councilwoman Davis is a staunch activist; hosting annual events such as the Anti-Bullying campaign at Norland Elementary, Diabetes Awareness, Mother’s Day Recognition, Domestic Violence Awareness, Thanksgiving Meal Donations, Gifts of Love, and offering Back to School Affairs. Councilwoman Davis has sponsored many resolutions that directly impacted issues concerning women and their families; such as, supporting legislation to increase the minimum wage, supporting Save Our Libraries, and prohibiting wage theft. She is the CEO/Founder of Dare2dream International, 2nd Vice President of the Florida Black Caucus Elected Officials, Vice President of the Miami-Dade Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, and Executive Board Member of Sharpe Towers.
Councilwoman Davis’ professional career in social services has spanned over 25 years; she is the CEO of Bold New Vision Community Development Corporation, Beckham Hall Homeless Shelter, South Florida Workforce, Mover’s Inc., OTAC Youth Counselor, and Chosen Generation
In 2013, Councilwoman Lisa C. Davis was awarded the Tafari Award, which honors women who empower women and in 2014 she was chosen as one of “South Florida’s 25 Most Influential and Prominent Black Women in Business and Leadership” by Legacy Magazine in the Miami Herald. She is also a member of the Dade County Chapter of The Charmettes, Incorporated, a sisterhood of dedicated women committed to improving the quality of life within our communities through advocacy, education, service and support for cancer research.
Councilwoman Lisa C. Davis represents Residential Area Seat 2, which encompasses: Northern Boundary: NW 215th Street; Eastern Boundary: NE 2nd Avenue, south to NW 199th Street; Southern Boundary: NW 183rd Street; Western Boundary: Florida Turnpike, north to NW 199th Street, west to NW 27th Avenue, north to NW 215th Street.
