Commander Erik Gleason


Commander Erik Gleason is a seasoned Law Enforcement Officer that has dedicated his life to public service. Commander Gleason started off his career working for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in 2002. During his tenure at the NYPD, Commander Gleason performed various duties while assigned to the Patrol Division and Crime Analysis Unit of the 83rd Precinct in Brooklyn, New York. After serving just over five (5) years with the NYPD, Commander Gleason jumped at the opportunity to join the newly forming Miami Gardens Police Department.

 

In November 2007, Commander Gleason was one of the first 150 Officers to be hired by the Miami Gardens Police Department. While at the Miami Gardens Police Department, Commander Gleason served as a Patrol Officer for the first seven (7) years, while he continued to complete his educational goals. In January of 2014, Commander Gleason was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. During his tenure as a Sergeant, Commander Gleason was assigned to various positions and duties to include the Patrol Division, Support Services Division and since 2015 he has been assigned to the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). As the Sergeant of the Real Time Crime Center, Commander Gleason led a team of Detectives to develop and construct a Nationally recognized RTCC from a simple idea to a functional unit. Commander Gleason was promoted to the rank of Commander in January of 2019.

 

While working full time for the Miami Gardens Police Department, Commander Gleason attended the Florida Institute of Technology and obtained several degrees. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Information Technology Management and a Master’s of Science degree in Project Management of Information Systems.
