Captain Vetrus Quintana joined the Miami Gardens Police Department in 2010 and currently holds the rank of Captain, in the Operations Patrol Division.  As an Operations Captain, she oversees the daily operations of the Uniform Patrol Officers and the School Crossing Guard Unit.  These tasks include, but are not limited to, the supervision of Patrol Sergeants, Acting Supervisors, SCG Managers and Supervisors, ensuring zone staffing, response to calls for service, evaluating supervisor job performance, reports and paperwork, response to emergencies, assuming command at certain scenes, and internal investigations.  

Captain Quintana came to the City of Miami Gardens Police Department in 2010 after serving as an officer at the Tallahassee Police Department for 12 years. During her tenure with the Tallahassee Police Department, she started as a Patrol Officer, Drug Abuse Resistance and Education (D.A.R.E.) Officer and an Assistant to the Police Athletics/Activities League (P.A.L.) Director for many years.  She was then assigned as a Detective in the Burglary and Property Crimes Units and ended her career at the agency as a Detective in the Internal Affairs Unit.   

Captain Quintana joined the Miami Gardens Police Department in 2010 where she served as a Patrol Officer, Community Enrichment Team Officer and Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T) Officer.  Prior to being promoted to the rank of Captain, she served as a Sergeant in Uniform Patrol, the Community Enrichment Team, PAL Unit, School Crossing Guard Unit, Communications, Records Unit, Property/Evidence Unit and the Code Enforcement Unit located at City Hall.  Her humble beginnings started as an Intern at the Metro Dade Police Department, Records Assistant at The Florida State University Police Department and a Police Service Aide at the Pembroke Pines Police Department. 

Captain Quintana has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a Minor in Psychology from The Florida State University. She is a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, The Florida State University Alumni Association, Order of Eastern Star/Brownsville Progressive Chapter and the Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
