City University Partnership

The Miami Gardens City/University Partnership offers a range of educational opportunities to residents in the City of Miami Gardens. Through partnerships with Miami Dade College, Florida Memorial University, and St. Thomas University, the initiative provides courses and training to help residents upskill and improve their economic mobility. By increasing educational attainment levels, the Miami Gardens City/University Partnership assists residents with reaching their educational and career goals.

Florida Memorial University Construction Trades Program

16-week program (Monday through Thursday)

10 am to 3 pm or 5 pm to 9:30 pm

Successful completers earn an OSHA-10 certification, NCCER Blue Card, and certificate of completion from Florida Memorial University. Participants will be receiving 7 weeks of Core program instruction and 9 weeks of Technical/hands-on instruction.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Live or Work in Miami-Dade County
  • Earn Less than $35K Annually
  • Ages 17 and up

Miami Dade College Certificate Program

Business Specialist - General Business
12 credits – 4 classes
Starting January 29, 2024

The Business Specialist Certificate prepares students for employment in the following areas: accounting, budgeting, business management, finance, international business, human resources, small business and marketing.

Successful completers are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony at Miami Dade College.

Participants will gain an understanding of essential computer concepts and acquire practical skills in using popular applications. 12-week course
